VGIF Grant Application Criteria and Guidelines


The Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund provides small grants for grassroots projects
that empower women and girls in developing countries.

The Application period is from June 1, 2010 to October 1, 2010.


Before submitting a project proposal for a Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund award, please review the criteria and guidelines below. Our criteria and guidelines are to help you understand who VGIF funds and how to formulate your submission.

VGIF does not consider requests for the following:

If you have reviewed VGIF’s criteria and guidelines and believe you have a proposal that meets ALL our requirements please view our CHECKLIST located here. Our checklist will help you get started on your project proposal and guide you through what you will need to submit a completed project application.

We strongly suggest that you send your applications and bylaws electronically by email attachment to vgif@vgif.org. Materials sent electronically must be received on or before October 1, 2010. Please note that the eight-page limit also applies to electronic submissions.

If electronic submission is not possible: Send an original application with VGIF numbering along with organizational bylaws postmarked on or before October 1, 2010 to the following address:

If any part of the application has been submitted electronically you do not need to submit a hard copy.

Once your grant application has been received and recorded, you will receive an acknowledging postcard or email from VGIF. Thank you for your interest in the Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund.

Please make sure to include your Application Number in the Subject Line of all email correspondence with the VGIF office.
