Pacific Basin Conference co-sponsored by the above. Funds for Asian and Latin American participants. Conference title “East Meets West: Culturally Conditioned Views of the Role of Women.” Held in Honolulu. VGIFUW received a grant of $8,000 toward this amount from the Henry Luce Foundation, Inc. specifically for Asian participants.

Update
A number of IFUW leaders wrote to congratulate the conference organizers for their “…vision that created a new concept in IFUW meetings, the contribution of culture to the advancement of women.” The conference agenda included a harpsichord recital, an art exhibit, and a reception for women artists as well as the traditional scholarly papers.
